Read about our History starting from 2006 until today! Find out how did we start and what have we done, how we progressed, where have we been, what is our story and what was the outcome of it all. This is just a short preview of what has happened since we started working.

2006

  • Music therapist Thomas Deleu offers music therapeutic workshops during a summer camp for children from refugee camps (Tuzla) and from Srebrenica.

2007

  • First independent project of  “Mother”.  One month of music, dance and drama workshops for children from Srebrenica and Potocari.
  • Summer camp for children in Srebrenica.
  • Offering music therapy.
  • Creation of the circle of friends Belgium – Srebrenica.

2008

  • Financial support of the Flemish Government (Department of Foreign Affairs by Geert Bourgeois)
  • A team of creative therapists starts to work in Srebrenica, offering: drama therapy, dance therapy and music therapy.
  • Giving drama therapy, music therapy and dance therapy in refugee camps in Tuzla.
  • CREA THERA INTERNATIONAL is born. The mission: ‘a sustainable therapeutic Centre in Srebrenica‘.

2009

  • Continuing sessions for children of Srebrenica. Therapies offered: music therapy, drama therapy and dance therapy.
  • CTI starts with psychotherapy for young women, older women and men.

2010

  •  Continuing sessions for children of Srebrenica + psychotherapy for adults.
  •  A seminar week ‘Narrative therapy ‘ takes place  in the Centre of CTI in Srebrenica.
  • Crea Thera collaborates with the Australian Dulwich Centre for Narrative Therapy.
  • CTI goes to Sarajevo to record a song `Za nas je kasno`.

2011

  • Continuing sessions for children of Srebrenica: art therapy and music therapy.
  • Capacity building: local people are getting a basic training in music therapy and art therapy.
  • Second seminar narrative and creative therapy.
  • CTI collaborates with the Italian NGO Cesvi and with the Ministry of healthcare of the Republic of Srpska and gives an introductory workshop music therapy in mental healthcare centers of Republika Srpska.
  •  CTI Cooperates with the therapeutic community IZVOR (for people with addiction problems). We give music therapy on a monthly basis.

2012

  • Continuing sessions for children of Srebrenica: art therapy and music therapy.
  • Continuing music therapy for people of the therapeutic community IZVOR.
  • A local psychologist – commissioned by CTI – makes an exploratory research in the schools of Srebrenica, Bratunac and Milici.

2013

  • Continuing sessions for children of Srebrenica: art therapy, music therapy + music workshops for children.
  •  Music therapy for adults (center for mental health care Srebrenica).
  • Continuing giving music therapy for the therapeutic community IZVOR.
  • CTI starts to give music therapy for children at the psychiatric department of Koševo.

2014

  •  Continuing sessions for children of Srebrenica: art therapy, music therapy + music workshops for children.
  • Music therapy for adults (center for mental health Srebrenica).
  •  Continuing giving music therapy for children of Koševo.

2015

  • Transition stage, “transferring the organization to the local community”. Local staff will be trained in elementary creative and therapeutic skills based on art therapy and music therapy. During their work trainees will be coached and supervised.
  • Continuing sessions for children of Srebrenica: art therapy and music therapy.
  • Music therapy for adults (center for mental health Srebrenica).
  • Continuing giving music therapy for children of Koševo.
